Ware Academy has received a three-year grant from a private foundation to support its performing and fine arts programs. Some of the upcoming on-campus programs featuring visiting performers will also be open to local children from outside of the school.

The grant funds have already brought Zumba dance classes to Ware and most recently storyteller Sheila Arnold, enjoyed by Ware pupils as well as fifth graders from Thomas Hunter Middle School. The next offering brings National Symphony cellist Yvonne Caruthers to Ware on Dec. 6.

In 2011, the Virginia Opera will present "Giovanni and the Beanstalk" for children in kindergarten through fifth grade on Jan. 18 and the MSG Acoustic Blues Trio will perform for students in grades six, seven and eight on Feb. 17. Percussionist Tom Teasley will also visit Ware, as will the Bowling Green College Choir. In addition, Ware children will take field trips to see "Stuart Little" and the Virginia Symphony’s Young People’s Concert.

For more information regarding the offerings see the Enrichment Calendar of Events at www.wareacademy.org. For more details or reservations call Jill Quinlan at 693-3825 or e-mail jquinlan@wareacademy.org.
