Robert Michael Hicks has been named an AP Scholar with Honor by the College Board’s Advanced Placement Program. The recognition requires an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken in high school and a score of three or higher on five or more of those exams. A graduate of Gloucester High School, Hicks is now a freshman at the University of Virginia. He is the son of Robert D. and Nancy J. Hicks of Gloucester.

Tyler Geisler, an eighth grade student at Peasley Middle School, was recently honored at an awards ceremony for gifted children held by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. Geisler was recognized for his achievement on the ACT, a test used for college admissions. About 25 percent of the seventh and eighth graders tested earned an invitation to the state awards ceremony where they received certificates.
