Robert Michael Hicks has received intermediate honors at the University of Virginia. Intermediate honors is awarded to students who earn at least 60 credits of course work and are among the top 20 percent of their class in the College of Arts and Sciences. Hicks is a third-year student pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in history and a master of education degree. He is the son of Robert D. and Nancy J. Hicks of Gloucester, and the grandson of C. Flippo Hicks of Gloucester, and the late Patricia DeHardit Hicks.
Brandon LaPointe of Gwynn, a freshman in the University Studies program at Virginia Tech, has been selected to be a member of the Marching Virginians. LaPointe will play trombone for the band, commonly known as The Spirit of Tech.
