Christopher Ivey received a master of science degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University during commencement ceremonies June 17. Ivey will continue his studies at Stanford toward a doctor of philosophy degree in mechanical engineering. A 2007 graduate of Gloucester High School, he is the son of Barry and Pam Ivey of Gloucester Point.

Lauren Saulman has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at James Madison University where she is a rising senior majoring in nursing. The recognition requires a 3.5 or higher grade point average. Saulman is the daughter of Harry and Cindy Saulman of Gloucester.

Brenna Thomas of Gloucester graduated cum laude and received a bachelor of science degree in physical education from Chowan University during commencement ceremonies May 5. Thomas was also named to the spring semester dean’s list, a recognition that requires a 3.25 or higher grade point average. She additionally received the 2012 Joseph Lee Parker Scholarship for being a good role model, demonstrating scholarly pursuits and showing evidence of leadership.

Phillip Jordan was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Eastern Mennonite University where he is a rising senior majoring in computer science. The recognition requires a 3.75 or higher grade point average. Jordan is also a member of the Royals baseball team. A graduate of Christchurch School, he is the son of Brian and Cindy Jordan of West Point.

Samantha Lee Drake graduated summa cum laude and received a bachelor’s degree in English from Longwood University during commencement ceremonies May 12. At Longwood, Drake was a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society, Alpha Lambda Delta national honor society for freshmen and president of Lambda Iota Tau English honor society. She is the daughter of David and Pattie Anne Drake of Gloucester.

Morgan Ann Woodlief received a bachelor of science degree in interdisciplinary studies from Radford University during commencement ceremonies May 5. She is the daughter of Jerry L. Woodlief of Hayes.

Michael B. Carroll received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and statistics from Radford University during commencement ceremonies May 5. He is the son of Martha T. Carroll of Hayes.

The following local students were named to the spring semester dean’s list at James Madison University, a recognition that requires a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.899: Mitchell Delusa of Wicomico; Michelle Bloomfield of James Store; Laura Bridges of North; Ciara Reed, Katelin Garrison and Tara Kissinger, all of Hayes; and Devin Ortiz, Rachel Healy, Staci Altizer, Ellen Stringer, Crista West and Caitlin Cheresnowsky, all of Gloucester.
