Madalyn Brooke Mitchem of Mathews graduated Saturday, Dec. 17 with a bachelor’s degree in health sciences from James Madison University in Harrisonburg. She was also named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester. She will be attending nursing school at Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing in Richmond beginning in January. Mitchem is the daughter of Dale Mitchem of Mathews, and the late Janice Lee Mitchem.
Ryan H. Cookson of Gloucester received a master’s degree from Troy University during fall commencement ceremonies on Dec. 16. Cookson, a captain with the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office, also holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
Thomas Hendrickson, a 2007 Gloucester High School graduate, and younger brother Garrett, a 2011 GHS grad, made the fall semester dean’s lists at Old Dominion University and the College of William and Mary, respectively. Thomas is working on a master’s degree in special education; Garrett was the recipient of a full scholarship to William and Mary. They are the sons of Robin Hendrickson of Gloucester.
