Chandler Long of Mathews, received a master of arts degree in teaching from Christopher Newport University during commencement ceremonies May 16. While at CNU, Long was a board member for the Student Virginia Education Association. She will teach third grade at Lee-Jackson Elementary School this fall.
Catharine Carter Damron was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Smith College in Northampton, Mass., where she is a rising junior. The recognition requires a 3.333 or higher grade point average. Damron is the daughter of Mary Williams Montague of Gloucester, and John E. Damron of Newport News.
