Signey Cameron Milks graduated cum laude from Lynchburg College with a bachelor of science degree in nursing during commencement ceremonies May 15. Milks was also named to the spring semester dean’s list, a recognition that requires a 3.5 or higher grade point average. She is the daughter of Steve and Tammy Milks of Gloucester.

Shelly Ann Milks was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Lynchburg College, a recognition that requires a 3.5 or higher grade point average. She is the daughter of Steve and Tammy Milks of Gloucester.

Will Ober of Mathews was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Northeastern University in Boston where he is a senior majoring in engineering. The recognition requires a 3.25 or higher grade point average.

Luke Davis of Mobjack, and Emily Wingfield of Gloucester, were named to the spring semester dean’s list at Bluefield College. The recognition requires a 3.5 or higher grade point average.

Brooke Marie Moughon was named to the dean’s list at Lynchburg College where she is a sophomore volleyball player for the Hornets. The recognition requires a 3.5 or higher grade point average. Moughon is the daughter of Pat and Chris Moughon of Gwynn’s Island.

Rachel Elizabeth Kistler was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Virginia Tech where she is a rising senior majoring in environmental science. The recognition requires a 3.4 or higher grade point average. Kistler is the daughter of Patricia Harden Warren of Chesapeake, and Devon Kistler of Mechanicsville, and the granddaughter of Mildred Harden of Hudgins.

James Flynn of Gloucester, a freshman at Ferrum College, was named to the 2009-2010 USA South Academic All-Conference Team, a recognition that requires a 3.0 or higher grade point average for the fall and spring semesters. Flynn was also named to the fall semester dean’s list at Ferrum, a recognition that requires a 3.4 or higher grade point average. He started four games at goalkeeper for the Ferrum Panthers soccer team, posting a shutout against Washington and Lee University, and took the field in all but one game this past season.

David R. Gibson and Darius O. Henry, both of Gloucester, were among the 128 cadets who graduated from Commonwealth ChalleNGe on June 19. Commonwealth ChalleNGe is a free, quasi-military program for teenage high school dropouts or teens that are at-risk of dropping out. Sponsored by the Virginia National Guard, the program is located at Camp Pendleton in Virginia Beach.
