Gaye Murphy, a third grade teacher at T.C. Walker Elementary School, received the Gifted Teacher of the Year Award for Region III from the Virginia Association for the Gifted during the VAG fall seminar in Newport News last month.

Sharon Joyce of Gloucester, recently received a master of science degree in human services from Springfield College, completing her studies in August.

The Gloucester Retired Educators will meet at 11 a.m. on Dec. 2 at Bethel Baptist Church, 2978 Hickory Fork Road, Gloucester. There will be a holiday musical program presented by Bethel Elementary students directed by music teacher Carla Stanley. A catered lunch will follow at the church.

Joan A. Faulkner, King William County’s representative on the College Board of Rappahannock Community College, has recently been installed as chair of the board. She takes over the position vacated by Robert Gates of King George County.
