Photo: Work on removing hazardous materials from Page Middle School has been ongoing for several weeks, and workers have finally moved to the exterior of the wing that previously housed the auditorium, gym and library. Here, employees of Southern Environmental of Richmond remove asbestos panels. The panels were probably installed sometime over the three decades from the 1950s to the 1970s, said Megan Jenkins, industrial hygienist technician with Marine Chemical Service, which is overseeing the project for safety and compliance with environmental regulations. She said that work on the wing should be completed in about two more weeks, after which it will be ready for demolition. Photo by Sherry Hamilton
