Personnel appointments made at Gloucester schools

The Gloucester County School Board made several personnel appointments during its special meeting last Thursday. Tony L. Riva of Hayes, was appointed to teach culinary arts at Gloucester High School, Matthew Bychowski of Roanoke, was appointed to teach earth science at GHS, and Constance Wright of Virginia Beach, was appointed a temporary cosmetology teacher at GHS.

Also, Katherine Ham of Yorktown, was appointed a teacher at Abingdon Elementary, Jolie Cox of Gloucester Point, was appointed the nurse at Petsworth Elementary, and Sharon Parr of Gloucester Point, was appointed a teacher assistant at Achilles Elementary. Jennifer Stevens and Connie Seabolt, both of Gloucester, were appointed to support positions.

Resignations were accepted from Abingdon technology assistant Elizabeth Ripley, Petsworth teacher assistant Rhonda Glass and support employee Debra Hansin. Retirement was approved for bus drivers Denise Sanzone and Mona Smith.

In positions paid by supplement, Christopher Thomas was appointed to coach boys’ volleyball at GHS, replacing Barry Childress who resigned. Page Middle School field hockey coach Sandra Beverage also resigned from her coaching position.
