Peasley, Ware and Thomas Hunter earn special designations
Three local schools have been named 2013 Virginia Naturally Schools (VNS) by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. They are Peasley Middle School and Ware Academy in Gloucester and Thomas Hunter Middle School in Mathews.
The Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School, based in Tappahannock, also received the VNS designation. The governor’s school has a campus in Glenns.
The VNS program recognizes the efforts of Virginia schools to increase environmental awareness and stewardship among students. It is recognized by the state board of education as the official environmental education school recognition program for the state.
