Peasley Middle School offered students a Cop On Top SOL testing incentive this spring. For every passing score the students received on a reading, math or history SOL test, school resource officer Mark Molnar pledged to spend one minute on the school roof. The students achieved enough passing scores to keep Molnar on the roof for 33 hours. The Gloucester Sheriff’s deputy ascended to his temporary post at 11 a.m. on June 5 and stayed on the roof until last Thursday evening. Molnar, shown waving to students as they left school on June 5, said passing traffic, helicopters and HVAC noises kept him awake but motivating students was worth a sleepless night on the roof.
