Kingston Episcopal Parish recently donated this hand-made harpsichord to Mathews High School. The instrument was built by John Bateman of Mathews in the early 1990s and donated to the parish by the late Morrison Smith, a former parishioner. The parish vestry recognized the potential opportunity to increase use of the harpsichord while enhancing the school’s music education program, said a press release. Shown with the harpsichord are, from left, MHS assistant principal Lex Foster, Kingston Parish member Bill Newell, parish senior warden Thomas M. Hunley, MHS band director Wayne Fillingim, and band members, kneeling from left, Thomas Hall, Joshua Sadler, Brian Smith, Shannon Enders, Sally Taylor, Brittany Godwin, Keith Whiting; standing front row, Cody Greenfield, Brandon LaPointe, Ian Andrews, Dylan Lambert, Jason Williams, Natalie James, Mariah Jowers, Kristin Fauber, Aubrey Koebach; back row, Cole Clawson, Locke Tucker, Joseph Rowe and Matthew Craven.
