Gloucester County Public Schools has been placed on the College Board’s third annual AP District Honor Roll for simultaneously increasing access to Advanced Placement course work while increasing the percentage of students earning scores of three or higher on AP exams. The school division is one of 539 across 44 states in the U.S. and Canada named to the list.

The College Board said achieving both increased access and the number of college credit-earning scores indicate the school division is successfully identifying motivated, academically prepared students who are likely to benefit most from rigorous AP course work.

From 2011 to 2012, Gloucester High School’s student participation rate on AP exams increased 20 percent, while the number of AP exams completed increased by 47 percent. Among minority students at GHS, there was a 9 percent increase in the number of AP exam scores of three of higher. Overall at GHS, there was a 7 percent increase in AP enrollment between 2011 and 2012.
