Apron auction raises $680 for literacy group
The Blue Ribbon Silent Apron Auction has yielded $680 for Adult Literacy on the Middle Peninsula, Inc., and will support the group’s effort to provide print and computer resources for GED students.
Kay Colton of Williamsburg received a blue ribbon in the spring event, as seamstress of the half-apron that received a $500 bid from Michelle Harbour of Gloucester, according to ALMP program director Rhoda-Jo Stress.
Harbour, of “My Country Life—Good News,” also received a blue ribbon. She placed a $500 bid on Colton’s apron, Stress said, noting “she hopes other businesses will follow by supporting the fundraising efforts of the community’s nonprofits.”
