A fix may be on the way for leaking auditorium roof at MHS
Leaks in the roof of the auditorium at Mathews High School might have a permanent repair on the way.
Superintendent of Schools David J. Holleran said that, after a recent episode in which large amounts of rainwater fell on the stage floor, school maintenance staff and an outside roofing company researched the problem and came up with what they think is the source of the trouble.
Fire vents installed when the building was constructed either have leaky rubber gaskets or structural defects that cause them to allow water in when there’s heavy rain, said Holleran. He said he’s going to request that the company that manufactured the vents, American Construction Company, replace them under a 20-year warranty.
