Gloucester students win awards at regional science fair

Five Gloucester High School students and one team of Page Middle School students won awards for their research in the 60th annual Tidewater Regional Science Fair held Saturday at Old Dominion University.

The Gloucester High School band program has again received top honors at the annual District VIII Band Festival.

School board to receive report on accreditation on March 16

The Mathews County School Board will meet March 16 in the Mathews High School auditorium to hear a report of the Southern Association of College and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.

Ware Academy program focuses on art and wellness

Ware Academy continued its focus on fine and performing arts and wellness with a recent week-long program titled “Beyond Our Wildest Dreams.”

Baylor Towne of Onemo, daughter of Jan and Shawn Towne, will attend the Scripps National Spelling Bee for the second consecutive year.

Mathews students earn blue ribbon awards at state conference

Fourteen Mathews students and four adults won blue ribbons for their artwork and crafts at the Virginia State Conference of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs in Richmond.

After-Prom Waiters’ Night

A number of prominent community members took part in last week’s Waiters’ Night program at Lynne’s, Chef Todd’s, Seabreeze and StanStrings restaurants, with all the tips going to this year’s Mathews High School After-Prom Party.
