Thanking the first responders

Gloucester High School senior Morganne Roundy (shown here with her father, Doug) raised $780.75 for Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue in a yard sale she held on Saturday at her parents’ Holly Springs subdivision home. Last year during Hurricane Irene, she was injured when a tree limb fell on her family’s vehicle, and the fundraiser was a way to express her gratitude to those who came to her aid. “We are very thankful to the fire department/EMTs and the community—and are thrilled Morganne has recovered so nicely,” said her mother, Wendy. The selected students will meet twice a year with Wittman and have the opportunity to hear guest speakers while adding to the conversation about solutions to real problems. The students were chosen for their excellent academic records and strong interest in government.
