‘Lighting up the sky’
I would like to take this opportunity to say how wonderful I thought the fireworks display at Mathews High School was. The whole evening was a huge success! As I stood around and watched the children play, the adults enjoying the music and food and then the fireworks topping the evening off, it gave me a heartwarming, proud-to-be-an-American-in-our-hometown feeling.
The YMCA and Boys & Girls Club did a great job with the activities and concessions. The band "Rip Tide" was very entertaining. As a Fireworks Committee member, my job as a fundraiser for the fireworks display is an easy one, thanks to the generosity of the citizens and businesses in Mathews.
I would like for everyone to know who the hardworking, dedicated and risk-taking men are who spend a lot of time and effort preparing for and igniting our beautiful fireworks display. Not to mention the cleanup the next day. Without the dedication of these guys, our great show would not have been possible. So here is a great big Thank You to these awesome fellows:
Charles Ingram, Elwood Everington, Jeremy Elliot, Wade Elliot, Christopher Dehoux, Larry Stewart, Scott Stewart, Ricky Stewart, Ryan Stewart, Tom Abrams, Jerry Timberlake, Robbie Sorey, Shane Sorey, Wayne Weis Jr., Steve Bing, Carl Curcio, Owen Tyler, Nelson Robins, Kurt Pruitt, Clay Harrington, Pat Harrington, Joe Robins, Rick Early, Jamie Early, Mark Barrick, Clarence Woods, Eugene Everington and Michael Hurst Jr.
I would like to give a special Thank You to all of you for lighting up the sky on the 4th of July and making a memorable evening for so many.
