Letter: Warren’s leadership style sets tone for department
I would like to take this opportunity to advise our citizens of Gloucester about Sheriff Darrell Warren. I’ve been a deputy in the sheriff’s office since 1983 and have had the opportunity to work for several sheriffs. I feel without a doubt Sheriff Darrell Warren Jr. has the ability to be the best sheriff our county has ever experienced.
Sheriff Warren immediately had the respect of our department, not because he demanded it, but because he earned it. Because of the respect I have for him and his office, I feel a strong desire to represent myself as he would. I know from communication with my peers that this seems to be a common feeling within the office, which equates to devotion and professionalism for our community as a whole.
Sheriff Warren is a strong and positive leader who is guided by principles and the rule of law. Equally important is the fact that Sheriff Warren is a man of character whose soul is filled with care and compassion, and whom I believe seeks guidance spiritually. I have had the opportunity to serve under many different leadership styles during my tenure as deputy sheriff and I could not be prouder of whom and where we are today. Please consider my thoughts when voting on Tuesday.
