Letter: Vote Obama, Kaine, Cook

Posted on Oct 31, 2012 - 11:41 AM Printer Friendly View

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

Our choices in this election couldn’t be clearer. We can choose between the two parties’ candidates with vastly differing visions. Mr. Romney wants to continue to give tax cuts to the rich, continue to subsidize big oil, privatize Social Security and turn Medicare into some sort of voucher system. The Republicans would like for us to simply bury our heads in the sand and pretend that global warming and climate change are a hoax (Mathews is pretty much ground zero for a rise in sea level).

The Republicans wanted Detroit to fail, simply to get rid of the unions, but they saved the worst attacks for women, wanting to turn back the clock on a woman’s right to make her own choices with her health care. This is the party that wanted nothing more than to make President Obama a one-term president. They voted against everything the president tried to accomplish. They have offended every minority until their only hope is to try to suppress the vote. Mr. Romney has outsourced jobs, offshored money, and refused to show tax returns. This is no way to lead.

While President Obama is fighting to rebuild the economy from the ground up, the Republicans voted against the Jobs Bill. The President is making sure that a social safety net remains in place to help those who need it. The Affordable Care Act is already helping folks with no insurance. The president understands that we have to begin to use solar and wind instead of simply drilling and pumping every last drop of oil out of the earth. He is bringing home our troops. And he got Bin Laden, without starting a war. Oh yes he did! The choice is clear.

Barack Obama, Tim Kaine and Adam Cook deserve our votes.
