Letter: The smoke-and-mirrors president

Several weeks ago, we were dealing with the government financial shutdown. Now, we are faced with more leadership issues that President Obama claims that he had no knowledge of, or worse yet, he knew and still intentionally deceived the public and the press!
Take, for example, the health care debacle. More than 57 percent (pick your poll here) of Americans are opposed to the Affordable Care Act (called by the narcissistic POTUS and press, Obamacare). That number will continue to climb as more Americans are finding out we were “snowed” by Obama not once, but twice as he campaigned on this issue in 2008 and won in a landslide, and in 2012, when he won again, despite falsely stating that “you can keep your insurance.” Insurance commissioners around the country are bracing for the unintended consequences of this law (see CNBC 29 October). Moreover, just recently, we have found that only 39 percent of Americans approve of the POTUS. Shockingly, Obama’s numbers on trustworthiness are over 50 percent against him. As this great experiment, his signature experiment with democracy and health care unravels, we will see these numbers rise. His actions speak much louder than his rhetoric.
Let’s be clear here: Obama is a smoke-and-mirrors POTUS, much like the wizard behind the curtain in the classic, “The Wizard of Oz.” He has been like a no-stick grill for five years until now. Finally, some of the press have wised up and view Obama and his spokesman, Jay Carney, for what they are: magicians.
I hope all of you voters who supported this man are happy with the lack of leadership on Iran, the healthcare debacle, Benghazi (where were the press and Mitt Romney on this?), Syria (where Russia outmaneuvered us), Fast and Furious, $17 trillion and counting of national debt, over 47 million Americans on food stamps (nearly doubled in five years), stubborn unemployment (up to 7.3 percent now) and little growth, tax increases, the raiding of Medicare to pay for the Affordable Care Act, a failure to approve the Trans Canadian Pipeline, and a policy in Afghanistan that is not working. Shall I go on, or is this George W. Bush’s entire fault?
The POTUS should publish a new book when he thankfully leaves the White House in 2017, it should be titled: How to Ruin a Republic, by Barack Hussein Obama. I am sure he would love the speaking tour. His followers would just gush! But, hey, I bet if you wished to buy Obama’s book, the Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites would work!
