Letter: Putting on Market Days ‘takes a village’
The Mathews Market Days Committee would like to thank all who attended and helped in past years. The committee is proud that all of our hard work pays off when we are able to present thousands of dollars in grants to organizations in Mathews County. All of the grant monies stay in Mathews County.
The committee has the pleasure of watching our own residents sell their handmade arts and crafts to earn extra money. Our local artists are amazing with their artwork. We are so proud of them and of our local food vendors who are able to raise money for their own organizations. Their food is out of this world. The musical entertainment is always outstanding and free of charge. We must not leave out the Classic Cruisers’ Car Show to take us back in time. What a treat.
Also, we would like to take this time to thank you, the Gazette-Journal, for getting the word out. Without the press and all of you, we are unable to raise the money we do to give back to our community. The saying "It takes a village" is so true when it comes to having a successful Market Days.
Come and join the committee and help plan this year’s event. We meet on the fourth Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Mathews Virginia Cooperative Extension office located at 10494 Buckley Hall Road (next to the Bank of America building). This year, Market Days will be held on Sept. 6 and 7.
