Letter: Objective is to throttle America’s energy use
This will be my last letter on global warming; getting too much into the claims, counter-claims and personal level. The issue is that our federal government, backed by the well-financed, back-to-nature (and pre-industrial America) lobby, employing flawed and inadequate computer models, is using the false premise of man-caused global warming to scare the populace into allowing the waste of vast sums on near-worthless projects and the enactment of penalties, in the amassing of political power.
The money is doled out as carrots in large grants and direct financing to favored organizations specializing in “alternative” energy and supporting the government’s agenda—in turn for campaign contributions and turning out votes, of course. The stick side of the coin is ever-expanding regulation and penalties to curb “greenhouse gases,” which increasingly curb our freedom to choose how, and even where, we live. All of this requires continuing growth of government to “manage” our energy resources for the good of the world, in an “environmentally friendly” way.
The overall objective is to throttle America’s use of energy. None of the alternative energy technologies presently touted and financed is ready for large scale production at a cost that is anywhere near affordable. Yet the present administration continues to pour vast sums into forcing them on us (Solyndra and ethanol gas are the poster children for the results of these wasteful efforts).
You may recall our president promising that electric energy prices will necessarily “skyrocket?” Why on earth should they? Electricity is the critical element in our prosperity. Is that what our nation needs? To be reduced to third-world status to “save the planet”? It certainly appears to be the Administration’s and the Progressives’ overall goal.
Remember in November.
