Letter: Obama wants to impose his ideology on us

Posted on Feb 15, 2012 - 12:55 PM Printer Friendly View

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

It is obvious that Ms. Thompson ("Results testify to Obama’s leadership," Feb. 9 Readers Write) gets her information from government controlled media. I am not a Republican but I am an Independent Conservative Catholic who has read President Obama’s books. Let’s look at Ms. Thompson’s premise that the president has run his presidency wanting to change the way Washington works. First, let’s clarify that Democrats ran the presidency and both houses of Congress the first two years of his presidency. Yes, and he gave us change by forcing Obamacare down our throats. Meeting behind closed doors, denying CSPAN to witness the payoffs he made to hold-out Democrats and spineless RINO Republicans to pass this monstrous 2,000+ page enslavement "health care" bill. Remember Speaker Nancy Pelosi saying "we have to pass it before you know what’s in it"? Since the 2010 landslide when The People saw this European Socialist change taking place, we finally have both Democrats and Republicans that say no to the Benevolent Dictator’s Agenda. Remember the Senate is still majority Democrat controlled, so don’t just blame Republicans for the no. But this didn’t come in time to stop the $500 million loss of taxpayer money given to Solyndra Corporation. The owners were campaign donors to President Obama’s election. Despite his own Energy Secretary’s warning not to loan the money, he wanted to repay his cronies and push his Cap & Trade/Green Energy agenda. The company is bankrupt and 1,100 employees jobless. Now GM’s financial arm (GMAC/Ally) is being fined by the government for foreclosure violations and must pay a penalty. Then there is Fisker Automotive, another $500 million. Bankrupt! More unemployed. Saving the car companies at what cost? The government subsidizes each GM Volt for $250,000 per car. The car costs $40,000 and the buyer gets a $7,500 rebate. I say that’s screwing us coming and going. Ford did not take the bailout restructured in bankruptcy and is going strong.

Then there’s the regulation that made companies who made regular light bulbs go out of business. I don’t want to use poisonous mercury filled bulbs; I will be forced to by government regulation. The employees lost their jobs in those factories.

Now the Catholic Church is being forced to give all employees health coverage for abortions, sterilization, morning-after pills and birth control. Remember the employees are free to use whatever they want, they just have to go to Planned Parenthood and get all these services that are supported by the government for free or low cost.

But President Obama has no regard for the First Amendment so he wants to force a church to go against its moral code and ethics. This is dictatorship, my dear Ms. Thompson. If President Obama is doing such a bang-up job, why are there 1.2 million more people on food stamps, unemployment higher and the long-term unemployed out of work longer, gas prices higher, food prices higher, housing prices lower and no turnaround in sight? Because President Obama wants to impose his morals and ideology of Socialism upon a free people. We say no thank you! We need a third party, but until that time I would be happy with picking the next president out of the phone book. We would be a lot better off.
