Letter: ‘No protocols’ cause for concern
I heard some collective snickers and head shaking when reading the article a few weeks ago about the rabid skunk incident.
I heard chuckles when reading the attempt at damage control the following week by Ms. Moran and other county employees.
At no time during the incident did Ms. Davis receive any reassurance from anyone that help was on the way. Instead, she summoned a relative who discharged a firearm across from the high school and a busy road, killing the rabid skunk. Does this bother anyone but me that the residents of Mathews have to take matters into their own hands because there are no protocols for the dispatcher to follow in crucial animal issues?
Since our new County Administrator and Sheriff took over, I can sleep well at night knowing these wise experts are managing my county effectively. And, let us not forget our Board of Supervisors, without whom none of this would be possible.
