Letter: Mathews Library is another gem

Posted on Jul 20, 2011 - 03:42 PM Printer Friendly View

Editor, Gazette-Journal:

In response to Max Parker of Deltaville: Welcome to Mathews and thank you for your good comments about our town. I believe that the treatment plant is scheduled to be removed in the visible future and there are some hopes and maybes about re-dredging the creek.

Yes, the town is "a true gem" but you missed a visit to our Pearl, a special library which was closed for the national holiday. You also missed the Friends of the Library bookstore, right behind the library, which was open. The store is filled with about 10,000 books, DVDs, CDs, tapes and magazines that have been donated by residents and visitors. The prices are very gentle. Hardback books are mostly $1 each with some priced a bit higher to account for their extra values. The shelved paperback books are mostly $.25 each. The bookstore is open from 9 to 1 Fridays and Saturdays for the summer. Come back soon, by boat or car, and visit us.
