Letter: Local businesses provide top-flight service
Lately I have been getting my mom’s house ready for new renters and have tried to use local businesses when possible. I have been so pleased with the quality of work, the reliability of these men and even the cost of the various jobs.
Mr. Royce Austin of Glasshopper did a great job replacing several cracked window panes in windows from the 1940s, plus replacing the screens on the sun porch. Michael Hall did a beautiful job on a new porch roof and Ronnie Hudgins of Hudgins Builders came and did some repair work before I even realized he had been there! I was able to find things I needed at Moughons, like a new toilet seat—made in the USA—and drawer pulls, plus advice on how to repair one of the tracks on a kitchen cabinet drawer. Also Stewart’s Tile and Carpet came and did caulking on the porch and in the bathroom. And though it was a small job, they gave it just as much priority as a large one. Chris White of C&B Plumbing checked out the water pressure in the house and Keith Faulkner of Faulkner and Son made a repair on the refrigerator and adjusted one of the drawers that I took out and couldn’t get back in. He will be the dealer I go to when the refrigerator finally gives up.
All of these men have local businesses. They come when they say they will, do a thorough job, clean up when it is called for and all for a fair price. I could not be more pleased. So, when you need work done around your house, think of these fine people first. You will not be disappointed.
