Letter: Humane society fundraiser a success
Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I want to thank everyone that participated in the fundraiser for the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society at Carter’s Cove Clubhouse on Oct. 16. The music by the bands was fantastic. We are grateful to all the businesses around Gloucester that gave us gift certificates to support the food and door prizes. We thank all the people who brought in food and helped with the serving and cleanup, especially my wife, Betty. We appreciate the authors for displaying their stories and artwork and returning a portion of sales to GMHS.
The story readers gave the audience a unique form of entertainment as they read animal stories from the CD "Animals That Have Touched Our Lives" by Norman Snowden. Fifty percent of the proceeds from CD sales are returned to the shelter. Anyone desiring a copy can purchase one at the gift store at the humane society for $10. These make great gifts for your animal-loving friends, as well as helping the shelter.
The humane society and its staff of volunteers are doing a wonderful job for the animals and need all the support they can get. Everyone should stop at Jackson Lane off Sutton Road and see the new building. It is definitely an impressive accomplishment for our region.
