Letter: Fortunate to have outstanding first responders
At a time when many newspapers are filled with partisan articles and vitriol, you remind us of the reasons to be grateful. Your editorial and the special section on First Responders (June 19 issue) give much-deserved coverage to a group of silent heroes who protect us daily.
We are fortunate to have these gifted hands in this community, many of whom volunteer countless hours and spend their precious time off to train and recertify for the privilege of helping their neighbor in their hour of need. I have seen a number of emergency services in other localities in the state and have always been impressed with the caliber and training of the men and women in our area.
It was also a nice reminder of personalities involved in the earlier days of these services. Your paper has consistently supported these first responders in emergency services. Thank you and special thanks to our dedicated and professional public safety workers in law enforcement (local and State Police), fire services, and emergency medical services. We are indeed the lucky ones.
