Before I retired and moved to Essex County in 1995, I served over 30 years with the Gloucester Volunteer Fire Department. On July 22, I was involved in an automobile accident at Route 602 and U.S. 17 at Ark. For the first time, I found myself on the receiving end of their services. Fortunately my injuries were superficial, but I am grateful for their prompt response and the care and professionalism of my friends and former colleagues.
