Letter: For Theberge
Our county government, and yes, our way of life in Gloucester are being threatened. Louise Theberge, is running for the Republican nomination for the at-large seat on the board of supervisors.
Her opponent, a member of the Peninsula Patriots, hopes to unseat Louise because he does not like her stand or support of many of our county programs.
Her opponent believes and says that the county government can only be controlled by commonsense governance. Louise Theberge has provided a balanced and commonsense approach to county government her whole time on the board … has he not been around to pay attention?
Her opponent says the county need only support essential services. Yet, at board meetings his supporters have spoken against donations to the Free Clinic, Woodville Park and our libraries. Louise, a past member of Abingdon Volunteer Rescue Squad, has voted to support these very important quality-of-life services.
Her opponent wants to freeze and/or lower taxes. But, does he tell you what he will cut if he lowers the tax rate? All the budgets have been posted online since 2008 for taxpayers to review … so what is it he wants to cut? Louise has worked with her fellow board members, while listening to county residents, to provide Gloucester with the most reasonable budget possible and no tax increase this year.
Her opponent says it’s time for a change … I say, be careful what you wish for!
Go vote the June 11 primary. Vote local. Vote the Republican ballot. Vote for Louise Theberge.
