Letter: For Morrow

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
We are privileged as Americans to participate in a democratic process of electing individuals that we desire to represent our community, State or Nation. Generally, through this process, we narrow the candidates list to represent one of the political parties. The ballots are set with the names of those that have been ‘vetted’ through their respective forums. The elected candidates will then serve their designated districts, state, etc., and should be responsible to those within their purview.
Occasionally, a candidate emerges during the process due to requests from their constituents as a ‘better’ choir to represent their needs. When this occurs, we are fortunate to have the right to "write-in" a candidate, thereby providing a truly free election by the people, for the people.
For Mathews County Board of Supervisors, such an opportunity has been presented with a ‘young’ mature 50-year-old, longtime resident who knows the county, the issues throughout the county, and listens to his community while checking the facts before making a decision … "GC Morrow."
"GC" is a problem solver, from machinery and boats, to engineering "real" solutions for our ditches, to responsible ways that we can meet our county’s needs. He is private sector with an understanding of the need for public/private partnerships in these economically challenging times. He is direct and polite. "GC" has always been available when called upon and this represents an individual worthy of our special community in Mathews. His email address is GCMorrow@live.com. I asked GC if I could put this in my Letter to the Editor and he said, "of course." You now have access to GC.)
In this day of "negative" campaigning, it is refreshing and encouraging to see "GC" enter the arena and offer his service to our community.
While most county board of supervisors are elected to a particular district within their county, Mathews is unique. It is one of a handful of counties that is "At Large." Therefore, our community can reach out to anyone of the board members to represent their interests, help, suggestions, complaints, or ideas.
"GC" Morrow has taken an active role participating in our community for decades and has proven his ability to provide forward thinking yet protect our community’s tradition and heritage…a balanced addition to our County’s Board of Supervisors that will require only one thing for you to do this election and day of "electronic" instant results…take the time to "write-in" GC Morrow … for all the right reasons.
