Letter: For Gibson
I typically vote Democratic but will support Ken Gibson to represent our 98th District in the Republican Primary on Aug. 23. While all of the candidates are more conservative than I am on certain subjects, Ken Gibson stands out as the most qualified to represent our district on the issues that I care most about: funding for education, creating opportunities for job growth, delivery of quality health care, and protecting the environment.
Ken Gibson is the only candidate with legislative experience. As I have browsed each candidate’s resume, Gibson’s stands out because he has actually been involved in the complexities of drafting laws. He served as legal counsel where he advised delegates and senators about bills as they made important decisions to oppose or support proposed legislation.
There are currently more than a thousand bills in the House of Delegates that will be reviewed in committees during this political year. I am supporting the person that I believe will be most effective at communicating and fighting for legislation that will help guide our district through the difficult economic times that persist.
As one of the 100 delegates who will make decisions that directly affect our state and region, I support Gibson and his experience working with the General Assembly where he studied and analyzed the details of written legislation. He is not a rookie to the political arena. Gibson’s experience as a negotiator will serve our district and me well as he works to represent our best interests.
As an attorney, Gibson works with clients to achieve the goals they want. As a delegate representing our district and me, I know that he will do the same. Join me in voting for the candidate with the experience to best represent us: Ken Gibson.
