Letter: Food From The Heart fundraiser a success
The fifth annual Food From The Heart fundraiser was a tremendous success. There are so many people to thank … so many people who helped make this year’s event the best one yet.
A big thank you goes out to U.S. Foods as the sponsor each year. The U.S. Foods chefs who come to work the event are very professional and always entertaining.
Our area chefs brought their talent to the table with some fun recipes. A special thank you to chef Mark Letchworth from the Mathews Yacht Club, chef Hans Schadler from Waypoint and chef Eric Garcia from the Inn at Warner Hall. The volunteer wait staff from Abingdon Episcopal Church, St. Therese Catholic Church, Union Baptist Church and Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church were all efficient, polite and fun to work with.
The attendance this year turned out to be the biggest yet—a total attendance of 268 people. A big thank you to the Digges family for your support and attendance (always a fun group).
The only unfortunate thing to report is that the need for our food pantries continues to grow. I look forward to the day when we don’t have people on food stamps or have lines at the food pantries, but until then, Food From The Heart will do all it can to help to feed the hungry in our community. God bless all of you whose support has made it possible for us to do this.
