Letter: Disabled vets not forgotten
We would like to say a very special thank you to the businesses and organizations who made it possible for more than 20 paralyzed veterans and caregivers to spend a wonderful day of fishing and good food on the Piankatank River on Oct. 3. Because of their donations of goods and time, these paralyzed veterans were able to leave the hospital for a day and enjoy the great out of doors. We all owe these vets so much for the sacrifices they have made for this country, and it is very heartening to know that local businesses and organizations are willing to help in many ways to show them our appreciation.
At the end of the day, members of our small neighborhood all agreed it was a much more rewarding day for all of us than it was for the veterans we hosted. So we send a big thanks to the many local businesses that made this all possible. Thanks also to the U.S. Coast Guard, Life Evac, the Gloucester Fire and Rescue Squad, and the many great neighbors near Hell Neck Road who pulled together to let these vets know they are not forgotten.
