Letter: Coleman for State Senate
Today, Thursday, Nov. 21, a canvass will be held to pick the Republican candidate for the special election for the state senate seat being vacated by Lieutenant Governor-elect Ralph Northam.
Mathews belongs to the 6th District. Its local canvass will be from 3-7 p.m. at the Mathews Memorial Library.
The Republican candidate will face Democrat Lynwood Lewis, who won his party’s nomination this past Saturday, and presently represents the 100th district in the Virginia House of Delegates.
Of the three candidates vying for the Republican nomination—Wayne Coleman, John Coggeshall and Richard Ottinger—Wayne Coleman has earned my family’s support and admiration.
Born and reared in Tidewater, Wayne graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.S. in Business Administration. Over the past almost 40 years, Wayne has worked for ocean carriers, a vessel agency, and a freight forwarder, before starting his own company. Today, he is the CEO and owner of CV International Inc., an international shipping company headquartered in Norfolk, where he and his wife of 35 years, Judy, make their home.
Out here in the real world—far removed from the unreal world of Washington, D.C., and even, at times, our own beloved Richmond—Wayne has personally created jobs, balanced budgets and met payrolls. He understands how the free market works Wayne has real world, first-hand experience in identifying inefficiencies and solving problems. Now he seeks to give back by questioning the status quo in both parties, and bringing real world experiences to Richmond.
Beginning in mid-summer and into this fall, Lori and I have gotten to know Wayne and Judy personally. While I thank all three Republican candidates for giving us choices, we commend to you the candidacy of Wayne Coleman.
If we want a different outcome, we need a different candidate. We need someone like Wayne Coleman—grounded in conservative principles, driven by results, possessing real world experiences, a deep faith in God, strong and unwavering work ethic, honesty, integrity.
On Nov. 21, I hope you will join me in casting your vote for Wayne Coleman for State Senate.
