Letter: Bazzani, Meyer and Winebarger for board
We have three people running for the York District. Marcia Mickle is determined and has expressed interest in property rights and Chesapeake Bay regulations, among other things. Graham Blake was on the board of supervisors some years ago. I have been told he has abstained voting on issues before and his daughter is on the school board now. Phil Bazzani, who is also running, was on the planning commission. He has an extensive background in management of large amounts of money and finance. He has a master’s degree in finance and a bachelor’s degree from William and Mary.
John Meyer and Grant Keller are running at large. I do not know anything about Grant Keller, but I have met John Meyer and, after some conversation about the constant raising of taxes, the lack of interest in bringing new business to the county and many other problems we face, I feel he is the person we need in Gloucester.
Last is the Petsworth District with Mike Jenkins and Mike Winebarger. Again, I don’t know Mike Jenkins, but I have been told he was on the school board for some years, voted to hire Superintendent of Schools Ben Kiser, and voted to buy the land the new school is being built on now. Mike Winebarger I do know. In fact, I sat on the planning commission with him for many years. Mike is a people’s rights type of person and even if it wasn’t a popular topic, he would vote for the people’s interest. He has an extensive background reviewing new regulations and ordinances that take away the people’s rights and then raise their taxes by new fees, permits, inspections and regulations.
The choice is simple. Vote for Phil Bazzani for the York District, John Meyer for at large and Mike Winebarger for the Petsworth District. We need to vote in people who will listen to the people. If we don’t change the type of representatives we have, we will soon have the same type of county government as we have in federal government.
