Letter: Another reason to get U.S. out of the U.N.
Editor, Gazette-Journal:
Yet another subsidiary organization is in the works for a power grab by the United Nations; this time it’s the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
This adds one more agency to the long list already in place. The U.N. already has UNESCO (to control education), UNICEF (for children), UNIFEM (for women), WHO (World Health Organization), FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization), not to mention U.N. banking institutions, military operations and trade organizations, as well as Agenda 21. Then too, there is the threat of a small arms treaty, which would affect our ability to own small firearms.
If ratified by our Senate and signed by our president, CRPD would open the door to such tactics as having the government, indeed the U.N. itself, determine whether parents of a disabled child are complying with their requirements. Can you just imagine what the U.N.’s definition of "disabled" might be—or what their remedy might be? Or what recourse you would have should they determine that your child fits that category?
We can prevent that by insisting our Senators vote against CRPD. And then, ask them to back a Senate version of Ron Paul’s H.R. 1146 to Get U.S. out of the U.N.
