Letter: Al Jazeera: terrorist ties?
Please permit me to take strong exception to the letter by J.H. West that appeared in the Sept. 5 edition of the Gazette-Journal ("Concerns over Al Jazeera/NPR are unwarranted").
Unfortunately, the purchase of Al Gore’s Current TV by
Al Jazeera gave this TV network, with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, direct access to America’s media market, as well as to thousands of American homes. The ties between Al Jazeera, the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as that of other terrorist organizations are well known.
Please permit me to elaborate briefly upon the terrorist connections to the
Al Jazeera network. According to an Egyptian journalist, el-Menawy, "Al Jazeera is a propaganda channel for the Muslim Brotherhood." According to a Mideast news outlet, The Gulf News, a reporter and his news anchor commented that Al Jazeera was explicitly ordered to support the Muslim Brotherhood. Egypt’s interim government has shut down Al Jazeera’s office in Cairo for inciting Muslim Brotherhood atrocities. The British newspaper, The Guardian, reported the result of a great deal of "unhappiness" as a result of Al Jazeera’s bias favoring the Muslim Brotherhood during the Arab Spring.
It also has been reported that Qatar, the home country and sponsor of Al Jazeera, is having second thoughts about its aggressive support for Al Jazeera. Just recently, many of the reporters employed by Al Jazeera have quit their jobs in protest of the biased reporting involving the Muslim Brotherhood. It is also interesting to note that an Egyptian court recently ordered Al Jazeera to stop broadcasting, as the network was considered a national threat due to its biased reporting in support of the Muslim Brotherhood. It is also a well-known fact that Al Jazeera’s general manager has direct ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas.
Prior to Al Jazeera’s purchase of Al Gore’s Current TV network, many Americans wrote to the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee representative Michael McCaul of Texas to ask that hearings be held on this purchase to investigate terrorist ties to Al Jazeera. Unfortunately, an insufficient number of Americans troubled themselves to respond. Meanwhile, the administration’s focus on political correctness and ties to Islam prompted approval of this clear conflict of American security.
