Letter: A potential conflict of interest?
Is this the same Graham Blake who was ousted in 2003 when he ran for reelection on the Gloucester Board of Supervisors? I have heard that he has a family member who happens to be on the school board. I have also read some newspaper articles indicating that Blake’s family member has been quite vocal for the need of a gifted education program in Gloucester. Do you mean to tell me they want to start a gifted program when they have not laid the first brick on a new school that county residents cannot afford or need?
With the school board having the largest single expenditure in the county budget, how can Mr. Blake honestly and ethically vote on school board issues as a member of the board of supervisors? Is he going to excuse himself every time when important school board spending issues arise? That seems to be quite often. I only wish I could vote in the York District, because I can see where this is going!
I sure hope there are some debates so that Mr. Blake can answer these questions directly to the citizens of Gloucester.
