Letter: A crisis of leadership
We have a crisis of leadership in America, and our most important leader, President Obama, is more concerned with political posturing and imperial ruling, than with compromise. Even the most liberal reporter, Chris Matthews of MSNBC, stated that Barack Obama is no Ronald Reagan. Boy, that was an understatement!
Our president is content to force his vision of a "new America" on all of us. Never mind that now more than 50 percent of Americans do not share his vision of socialized medicine. Furthermore, this man is responsible for more of our national debt in just five years than any man in history. While many are stating that our debt to GDP ratio is down, what we are surely facing is a roughly $20 trillion national debt when Obama is thankfully gone on Jan. 20, 2017. When he leaves office, he will have created, with his redistributionist economic policies, a disaster that will be hard to overcome.
Here are some startling facts (source Federal Government):
1. Our debt per person is now $53,553.
2. Our debt per taxpayer (and there are fewer of those due to Obama’s liberal giveaways) is a staggering $148,224.
With an economy like this, I guess Obama still thinks it is George W. Bush’s fault? We all clearly know we have an amateur at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. When we look back, with history as our teacher, people will ask was this the best we could do for eight years? President Obama will go down in history as a failure much like Warren Harding and Jimmy Carter.
It sure is a shame that so many people and the media were blinded by his rhetoric, not once but twice. As General George Washington said, "Perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages"; let’s hope we can make it to 2017.
