Letter: The best Jubilee ever
Editor, Gazette-Journal:
Thank you. Through your kind and gracious coverage of the Guinea Jubilee, both in news, feature, advertising, and editorial, we were able to explain our heritage celebration and draw a crowd of over 10,000 folks who participated through two very hot days to make the Guinea Jubilee the best ever. I would also like to thank the other Gloucester media for covering the Jubilee: Radio station WXGM, for on-air live coverage and announcements preceding the event; Daily Press for blogging about it; and Glo-Quips for print coverage.
Thanks also to our Sheriff, Steve Gentry, who along with his Deputy Sheriffs made our Jubilee a safe place for parents to bring their children, helped folks that needed assistance, and made our roads safe during the parade.
Not last or least I send a hearty thanks to the sponsors of the Guinea Jubilee. Without your year-to-year support, our Jubilee would not survive. As this year’s parade grand marshal, Marvin Crane, put it, you "have Guinea in your hearts," too.
And a special thanks to a fantastic committee, you’re the best. Thank you for your time.
Elliott Hogge
2010 Guinea Jubilee Chairman
