Maynard Thomas Oliver, 82, of Wicomico, died peacefully at his home on March 19, 2013.
Maynard was a native of Gloucester, a member of Providence Baptist Church, and retired in 1992 from Newport News Shipyard. He was a Korean War veteran. Maynard enjoyed gardening and a good game of checkers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy B. Oliver; parents, William P. and Roberta B. Oliver; sisters, Edith Dutton and Joyce Green, and brothers, William Doyle Oliver and Ellwood Joel Oliver.
He is survived by his caregivers, Jeffrey and Patricia Tanner; caregiver, Sandra Scott; special friend, Jeffrey Tanner Jr.; sister, Mary Bristow; uncle, Wallace Williams, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends assembled at the cemetery. The family received friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
