Shirley Elizabeth "Betsy" Thompson, 78, of Gloucester, Va., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012.
She was a lifelong native of Gloucester, and was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Mary Hart Thompson.
She was the pool manager for 37 years of the American Legion Pool in Gloucester, and it was said that she had pictures of all of the kids that came to the pool. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Gloucester and the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Auxiliary.
She is survived by her sister, Jacquelyn T. Fary; nephew, Joe Fary and his wife Donna; great-nephew, Brian Dunston; great-niece, Lindsay Fary Nazak and her husband Andy, and her special companions, Daisy and Chloe.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at 2 p.m. in Windsor Gardens Cemetery.
