Gary Christopher Benoit, 43, of Fredericksburg, Va., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg.
Gary graduated from Rockville High School in Vernon, Conn., in 1986, Old Dominion University in 1991, and had a long career as a computer programmer at GEICO.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Hall Benoit of Fredericksburg; son, Matthew J. Benoit of Fredericksburg; parents, George and Gail Benoit of Gwynn; grandmother, Lorraine Benoit of Manchester, Conn.; brother, Scott Benoit and wife Jean of Ellington, Conn.; sisters, Lisa Leser and husband Michael of Unionville, Conn., and Robin Benoit of Mathews; brother-in-law, James Hall and wife Debra of Locust Grove, and nieces and nephews, Timothy Benoit, Anthony Scata, Tonya Benoit, Erica Scata, Madysen Smith, Logan Smith, Jennifer McGlothlin and Julianne Hall.
Gary’s life centered around his family and friends. He loved his wife and son with all his heart and soul. He enjoyed attending all of his son, Matthew’s soccer and football games, grilling for his family and friends, relaxing by the pool, playing Frisbee with his dogs Buddy and Abby, reading, photography, playing computer games and driving in his Mustang with the top down. He enjoyed family vacations at Disney World, cruising and vacationing with his sister Lisa and her children at the Outer Banks.
A service was held at noon Saturday, Feb. 25. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.
