Betty Page Hudgins, 80, of Mathews, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at the Gloucester House.

She was the widow of Hilton S. Hudgins and the daughter of the late Charles Elbert and the late Florence Owens. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Elbert Owens Jr.

She is survived by two daughters, Marlene Stillman and husband Keith of Richmond, Va., Debbie Ferguson and husband Jim of Topping, Va.; a son, John Charles (J.C.) Hudgins of Newport News, Va.; six grandchildren, Tom Jarvis, Jeremiah Ferguson, David Jarvis, Rebecca Jarvis, Tony Ferguson and Amy Ferguson; eight great-grandchildren, and a loving and caring niece, Sabina Newton and husband Warren.

She was a long-time dedicated and supporting member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She had a passion for flower gardening which she practiced long before and after her retirement from Tatterson Greenhouses. A five-year resident of the Gloucester House she is leaving behind many friends in addition to her family, all who will miss her.

The family will receive friends at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, on Thursday, Aug. 18, from 6:30-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Windsor Gardens on Friday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m.
