Helen Lee Carmine, 63, of Hayes, died May 18, 2011 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital.
She was born Feb. 1, 1948, a daughter of the late Peyton and Catherine Brooks.
Along with the love she poured into being a loving wife, mom, granny and homemaker, Helen also worked outside of the home for a while with the Gloucester School System. Helen loved children and began a babysitting career that lasted for more than 25 years, loving and cherishing over 40 children during that time and even though they are adults now, they often visited with Helen.
She enjoyed flowers, birds and taking care of her home. Helen will be remembered by so many for so many reasons, and her legacy of love is the gift she leaves behind to keep her close at heart, always.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd Carmine; daughters, Pam Carmine, Kandi O’Malley; her very special granddaughter, Brooke O’Malley; sisters, Mary Weaver, Esther Belvin; brothers, Alvin Brooks and Carroll Brooks.
Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Providence Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Saturday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
In Helen’s memory, contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Va. 22312.
