A funeral for Nettie G. Carter of Mathews, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Zion Baptist Church, Cardinal. She died Thursday, May 12, 2011.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Queenie Ward; her husband, William F. Carter; brother, William S. Ward; sisters, Jeanette Smith, Nannie B. Foster, Sylvia M. Kennedy, Mary Hearn, and a granddaughter.

Survivors include a son, Lawrence Carter of Cardinal; six daughters, Theo Spriggs of Cardinal, Patricia Ann Carter of Cobbs Creek, Laverne Carter and Joan Carter of Gloucester, Vanessa Johnson of Cardinal, and Vickie Key of Newport News;  a brother, Winsor Ward of Mobjack;  nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Viewing was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Howard Funeral Home, Ark.

The Rev. Willie G. Dickerson will conduct the service.
