DAVID P. CASTLEMAN II

David P. Castleman II, 44, lost his long and courageous battle with melanoma on June 5, 2013, Arlington, Va. He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends who were proud of his tenacity and grace in fighting this disease.

He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Helen, and his treasured nine-year-old daughter Nico, who bravely traveled this journey with him. He also leaves his parents, Judy and Polk Castleman, formerly of Mathews; sister, Shannon; brother-in-law, Patrick Storey; niece and goddaughter, Caiden Lee Storey; mother-in-law, Lydie Stefanopoulos, and brother-in-law, John Stefanopoulos.

David was an electrician by trade.

The ever-fashionable David had a great sense of humor, which was legendary among his many friends. His infectious laugh would fill a room with joy. He had a lifelong interest in music, literature, and travel, and a rare ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He is, and always will be, greatly missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

On Sunday, June 16, 2013, a celebration of David’s life will be held for his family and friends in Richmond, Va., starting at 4 p.m. at Balliceaux Restaurant, 203 N. Lombardy Street.
